Hey you, I turned 42 this week, and somewhere between the candles and the math of “if I live to 100, that’s 42% done,” I had a whole moment. More on that below. One Thing to Think About This Week42 years old. If I live to be 100, that’s 42% complete. Scary to think about… but honestly? Motivating too. It made me realize how easy it is to coast on “I’ll get to it eventually.” Mobility work. Gratefulness. Flossing your damn teeth. The tiny stuff that feels optional until you’re 80 wishing you’d started sooner. I’m still all about living in the moment. But there’s a version of presence that also asks… if I change nothing right now, what does my life look like in 5 years? 10? 40? That question isn’t morbid. It’s motivating. It’s the difference between drifting and building. Celebrate Your Wins
Productivity Hack of the WeekHere’s one I’ve been leaning on hard. Instead of trying to sort every content idea in my own head (what pillar does this belong to, what format, what’s the angle), I hand the raw idea to Claude. It already knows my pillars, my voice, my goals for the channel. So instead of me doing the translation work solo, we build it together, and I just tweak from there. Then it gets tracked in my Notion content database with a link back to that exact conversation, so when I’m actually making the video, I can go find the thread and keep building on it. What I’m Into This WeekMovie: Ordinary Angels. Wrecked me. Now that I have a kid, stories like this hit different… a guy loses his wife, then his 5 year old needs a liver transplant just to survive. There’s no guarantee any of this stays the way it is. Take care of the health and the people you have, because you never know what changes in an instant. App/Tech: Claude, honestly. Not just for content, for actually thinking through my week. Podcast/Song/Other: My sleep meditation playlist got a new addition this week and I still listen to it every single night. Linking it in case you ever have trouble falling asleep. Life SnapshotPersonal Wins: Turned 42. Showed up late to my own birthday workout instead of not showing up at all. Family Moments: Madison and I got into a conversation about goals and dreams, and I realized… we’ve done every single thing we set our minds to. Leave Nebraska for somewhere warmer. Find a hybrid job I actually love. Madison working at a top salon before going out on her own. Building our first home. Finding a lot big enough for a pool. Having our baby boy. All of it. Done. And now our eyes are wandering to what’s next, and I’m confident we’ll do that too. Real-Life Relatability: That Friday home workout. Prescribed myself a plan, sat on my phone instead, watched some YouTube on the gym TV, and just never got into it. Didn’t handle it gracefully in the moment. Handled it the next morning instead. That counts. One Last ThingYou are the only person who spends 100% of your time with yourself. Nobody else logs that many hours in your body, your head, your life. Take care of her. That’s the takeaway this week. Not urgency. Wisdom. “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” — Psalm 90:12 Fun P.S.I talked to my brother for an hour this week. We’re so alike that conversations with him always go somewhere good. He’s running again, and he’s fast, and he might be starting work release next month… one month away, which is wild to sit with. I told him we’re doing a Hyrox together. He obliged. What I’m BuildingNew long-form video is live using the raw, talk-to-camera process (way less production than a full vlog, and honestly, easier to actually finish). Also deep in editing my 90-day footage right now… going back and watching myself from 90 days ago, cold and congested and just starting, compared to where I am now, is wild. More on that soon. If you want to follow along in real time, come find me on YouTube: Trina Berks. Whatever you’re 42% (or 12%, or 80%) of the way through… keep going. Working parent. Marathon finisher. Systems builder.I document what it actually looks like to close the gap between the life you keep picturing and the one you're living.
Hey you, Some weeks you do it all. This wasn’t one of those weeks. Daycare was closed, work stayed busy, and we packed up and drove to Oklahoma City to see family. Somewhere in there, content just had to wait. I used to feel guilty about weeks like this. This time I didn’t. I’m okay with that, and I think you should be too when your weeks look like this. One Thing to Think About This Week I watched a TEDx talk this week that was tooooo damn good. Dr. Kim Foster talked about why change doesn’t...
Hey you, This week I finally named the thing quietly sabotaging me since the marathon, and it wasn’t motivation. It was research. Turns out you can “plan” your way into being completely stuck. One Thing to Think About This Week I was talking to a friend about my YouTube rut and the recent realization that I’ve been taking in so much creator advice… all of it good, all of it well-intentioned, and it kept me stuck instead of setting me free. I gave him an example. Told him about a creator who...
Hey you, It’s Sunday, which means the 90-day challenge is officially over. And I’ve got thoughts. Some fitness, some feet, some feelings, one not very dirty cabin air filter. Let’s get into it. One Thing to Think About This Week I downloaded Mark Manson’s app, Purpose, a while back and never even started the trial because I wanted to give it a real shot before judging it. And it got me thinking… we do this with everything. We want something to be amazing for us, but if we don’t give it the...
