Hey you, This week I finally named the thing quietly sabotaging me since the marathon, and it wasn’t motivation. It was research. Turns out you can “plan” your way into being completely stuck. One Thing to Think About This WeekI was talking to a friend about my YouTube rut and the recent realization that I’ve been taking in so much creator advice… all of it good, all of it well-intentioned, and it kept me stuck instead of setting me free. I gave him an example. Told him about a creator who posts these long, raw, minimally edited videos, sometimes almost an hour long, no polish at all. I figured that wasn’t his thing. He knew exactly who I meant. Said he loves that content. Then in the same breath told me he also loves highly produced, beautifully shot videos too. That’s when it clicked. There isn’t one right formula. I’d been so busy studying everyone else’s approach that I forgot to just go look at what I actually had. So I did. I pulled up my 90-day transformation footage, a genuinely massive amount of it, and started reviewing what’s actually there to work with. If you’re sitting on a project you’ve been “researching” instead of touching… that’s your sign. Go look at what you already have. Celebrate Your Wins
Productivity Hack of the WeekThursday’s Hybrid Hour was an absolute vibe. Dope venue, dope people, groups of six, energy was lit. Body Art does it again. Buttttt, I under-ate that day, badly, and then stacked a lunchtime cardio session on top of it before the event even started. Hybrid Hour kicked off at 6pm and it was hot outside. I had a water and three electrolyte drinks during the event and was still dead as a doornail. The hack, learned the hard way: hydration doesn’t fix an empty tank. Fuel like you mean it, especially on the days you’re asking your body to show up twice. What I’m Into This WeekBook: Finally bought The 4-Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss, and The 12 Week Year after a recommendation. Both on my nightstand now. (The 12 Week Year is also on Spotify Premium if you want the audio version.) App/Tech: I voice-chatted my way through a video script with Claude acting as my strategist, just talking it out loud until it turned into something raw and what my brain was thinking. Why didn’t I try that sooner? Song: “Big Stupid Heart” by Andy Grammer. Such a dope song, on repeat all week. Life SnapshotPersonal Wins: Two PRs, a finished Hyrox event, and finally locking the framework and script for my YouTube comeback video. Family Moments: Ledger had soccer practice this Sunday… just him and one other kid, which honestly made it kind of special watching the two of them go. Also a pool hang with Jay and the family. Real-Life Relatability: Admitting out loud that I’ve been stuck in a planning trap for months, and crashing hard at Hybrid Hour because I didn’t fuel myself right. Also admitting to Madison that my brain and body battery's have been draining more than charging lately. She's helping me charge. One Last Thing“How long are you going to wait before you demand the best for yourself?” — Epictetus This week I demanded a PR, and got it. I demanded clarity on my content, and got that too. Turns out the waiting was the only thing actually in my way. “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.” — Ecclesiastes 9:10 Fun P.S.Ledger’s soccer practice was a whole personality arc in twenty minutes. Before class even started, he was fully in his social era… waving at the coach, saying hi, yelling “hello doggys” across the field. Then the second the coach asked a direct question, like “what are these soccer balls over my head, bunny ears?”… lips sealed, hand straight into his mouth. Not a word. Once he warmed up though, it was a very confident “noooooo!” with a big smile, because obviously those aren’t Mickey Mouse ears, Coach. After practice: mini pancakes, a smoothie, a quick playground stop, and a visit to the chickens. Low-key perfect Sunday. What I’m BuildingThe YouTube comeback video is finally in motion. Script’s locked, and I’m going back through all 90 days of transformation footage to start actually editing and posting from it. Ideal rhythm going forward: one to two long-form videos a week, three short-form. No new formula, just reps. Butttt it’s a slow climb to that commitment. Hold me accountable. If you want a front-row seat to the whole thing, planning trap and all, that’s exactly what I’m building toward. More soon. Okay, that’s the download. Go find the smallest repeatable version of your thing this week and just show up for it. I’ll be over here filming mine. Working parent. Marathon finisher. Systems builder.I document what it actually looks like to close the gap between the life you keep picturing and the one you're living.
Hey you, Some weeks you do it all. This wasn’t one of those weeks. Daycare was closed, work stayed busy, and we packed up and drove to Oklahoma City to see family. Somewhere in there, content just had to wait. I used to feel guilty about weeks like this. This time I didn’t. I’m okay with that, and I think you should be too when your weeks look like this. One Thing to Think About This Week I watched a TEDx talk this week that was tooooo damn good. Dr. Kim Foster talked about why change doesn’t...
Hey you, I turned 42 this week, and somewhere between the candles and the math of “if I live to 100, that’s 42% done,” I had a whole moment. More on that below. One Thing to Think About This Week 42 years old. If I live to be 100, that’s 42% complete. Scary to think about… but honestly? Motivating too. It made me realize how easy it is to coast on “I’ll get to it eventually.” Mobility work. Gratefulness. Flossing your damn teeth. The tiny stuff that feels optional until you’re 80 wishing...
Hey you, It’s Sunday, which means the 90-day challenge is officially over. And I’ve got thoughts. Some fitness, some feet, some feelings, one not very dirty cabin air filter. Let’s get into it. One Thing to Think About This Week I downloaded Mark Manson’s app, Purpose, a while back and never even started the trial because I wanted to give it a real shot before judging it. And it got me thinking… we do this with everything. We want something to be amazing for us, but if we don’t give it the...
