Acting Your Way Into Becoming

Hey you,

I’ve been thinking about this all week.

Jim Rohn said it like this: when you act like you are your best, you reprogram yourself. The more you do it, what started as an act eventually becomes natural. You don’t wait to feel ready. You act ready. And then one day… you are.

I needed that. Because this week I walked into a new gym three times, signed up for an 8-week challenge, rethought how we feed our family and decided to start a 90-day fitness chapter starting tomorrow. None of it felt fully ready. I just did it anyway.

That’s the whole thing, isn’t it?

Let’s get into it.

One Thing to Think About This Week

Tony Robbins breaks it down into three questions. I heard it Friday morning and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since.

  1. What am I going to focus on? Whatever you focus on becomes your reality. What’s wrong is always available. So is what’s right.
  2. What does this mean? Meaning equals emotion. The story you tell yourself controls everything.
  3. What am I going to do? Because meaning without action is just a mood.

I’ve been asking myself all three. Especially that first one. Because I have a tendency to focus on how much I haven’t done instead of what I have. Working on it.

Celebrate Your Wins

  • Three BFT sessions done this week. Already got three more on the calendar for next week. The habit is forming. Also signed up for their 8-week challenge starting mid-May and i’m low-key stoked for this.
  • Ran the Cap10K and felt great afterward. No major soreness. Knees happy. That’s not nothing after a marathon two months ago.
  • Had a real conversation with myself about what I want my mornings to actually look like and started adjusting instead of just stressing about it.

Productivity Hack of the Week

Organize your meals by expiry date, not by craving.

We kept running into the same problem.. Sunday grocery order and by Thursday we’re out of the fresh stuff and defaulting to whatever’s left. The fix I’m testing: order groceries twice a week (Sunday and Wednesday), use the shortest shelf-life items first (salmon before ground beef, salads before root veggies), and batch-prep a couple proteins on Sunday so weeknight dinners don’t feel like an hour of “how long have we been in the damn kitchen?”

Simple. Not revolutionary. But it might actually work.

What I’m Into This Week

  • Book: I picked back up Do the New You by Steven Furtick. Started it a while back, life happened, and I’m restarting it with fresh eyes. Finding new meaning in the words already
  • App/Tech: Using Claude to help plan our weekly meals around nutrition and expiry dates. Asked it to help me think through which whole foods to prioritize and in what order. Genuinely useful for breaking the “what do we even eat” spiral. It also can read my recipe books saved in Google Drive.
  • Podcast/Other: Jim Rohn on acting like your best self until you become it. This video can change your life if you accept it and do what it says.

Life Snapshot

  • Personal Wins: Continuing to iron through thoughts and ideas and landing on what truly matters to me.
  • Family Moments: Madison spent her day off building Ledger a cardboard trash truck for his birthday. Hand-painted it green. The boy loves garbage trucks more than most things on earth. He doesn’t know yet but he is going to absolutely lose it.
  • Real-Life Relatability: We went to a daycare birthday party Saturday. It was 72° when we left the house. Thirty-minute drive. By the time we got to the park it had dropped and gotten windy and I had zero layers. I stood there in the cold telling myself I’m fine, I’m not cold. Did it help? Kinda. Did Ledger still have a blast? Absolutely

One Last Thing

Nick Komodina wrote something I want you to ponder: if you focus on how much you can give, you stop obsessing over how much you can get.

I’ve been sitting with that one. In my relationship with God, in my content, in how I show up for people. I’ve been waiting to have it together enough to give. Turns out, that’s not how it works.

Start with what you have. Give it. See what grows.

“Give, and it will be given to you.” — Luke 6:38

Fun P.S.

Ledger had soccer this morning. Of course the weather was super cold and windy. Mads and I took turns helping guide L through the objectives. He def did better with Madison guiding him. He scored. He dripped like a total boss and he crushed his ultimate favorite thing…. clean up time, cuz duh!

Then we came home and started on our Sunday Reset as a family. All of us attacking chores together and Ledger leading the trash duties and poo poo cleanup efforts.

What I’m Building

A 90-day fitness chapter starts tomorrow. AHHHHH

Not next Monday. Not when I feel ready. Tomorrow. I’ve set up the tracking system, taking body measurements and building the accountability structure in Notion. I’ll be sharing the process here and eventually on YouTube — the whole thing, not just the highlight reel.

If you’re also in a season where you’re trying to get your health and habits dialed in, come along. You don’t have to have it figured out to start. You just have to start.

→ Reply to this email if you want the system i’m using and i’ll send it over.

Until next Sunday — let’s just enjoy this. 🤍

Hey you… It’s Sunday. And before you map out the week ahead, I just want you to sit in this one for a second. Because this was a good week. Like… a really good week. Even when it didn’t feel like it. Let’s get into it. One Thing to Think About This Week Jim Rohn asked a question this week. What has you turned on right now? What has you turned off? He said without a strong enough why, your how just gets bigger. Heavier. More complicated. You think you want the million dollar home… but do you?...

Hey you, For two weeks I did everything right. Hit the gym six days. Protein every meal. Water like it was my job. And the scale gave me a grand total of… 1.3 pounds. If I’d only had the scale, I would’ve quietly assumed nothing was happening. Maybe even quit being so strict about it. Then I got the data. And the data told a completely different story. Let’s get into it. One Thing to Think About This Week The thing that’s been rattling around my brain: the proof is almost never where you’re...

Hey you, Okay, I don’t even know where to start this week. It was one of those weeks that looked normal on the outside… gym, work, kid bedtimes, all the things but on the inside, something shifted. I went to an event I almost talked myself out of going to and I came home with pages of notes and a few thoughts I haven’t been able to shake. Let’s get into it. One Thing to Think About This Week “Time is flying. You have to pay attention or you’ll miss it.” I keep saying it out loud hoping it’ll...
