Finding My Rhythm (Even with Coughs and Chaos)

Hey you,

This week flew by. Like… blink and it was Sunday.

It was a week full of congestion, coughs, and me desperately trying not to lose my voice. Hot lemon water basically lived inside my Owala bottle all week.

But even with the chaos of being slightly sick, work events and a packed schedule, there were a lot of little moments this week that reminded me what I’m really working toward.

And that brings me to this month’s intention: Rhythm.

Because the life I want only happens if my systems make it easy to show up for it.

One Thing to Think About This Week

This week I kept thinking about friction. The goals we want in life rarely fail because we don’t want them badly enough. They fail because our systems make them hard.

So this month I’m paying attention to everything:

  • The things I do automatically
  • The things I avoid
  • The things that make life easier
  • The things that create friction

Even small things like waking up at 5am.

The last two mornings I woke up at 5… and just stayed in bed until 6. Slowly convincing myself I didn’t really need to get up.

But I know the truth.

I’m better when I take care of my body and mind first.

If I want to be present for my family, show up strong at work and build the life I’m chasing, I have to treat my body like the gold blessing that it is.

Rhythm creates that.

Celebrate Your Wins

  • I followed my 3 full body strength workouts (while avoiding running all week…. back next week)
  • We had so many eventful and exciting things happen at work this week. Team lunch, team happy hour and an all day tech event with awesome networking opportunities
  • Mads and I had a day date with just us two

Productivity Hack of the Week

This month I built a “Fun List” in my journal.

Not goals. Not tasks. Just experiences I want to try and make time for.

Things like:

  • Two dates with Madison
  • Cowork at a public place twice
  • Workout with a friend twice
  • Try two new spots

It’s simple, but it makes life intentional. Because productivity isn’t just about getting things done.

It’s about making sure life actually happens while you’re doing it.

What I’m Into This Week

Book: Think and Grow Rich - I’m still working my way through this one. It’s one of those books where every chapter feels like it deserves a pause and reflection.

Playlist: Casa Loma on Spotify - This playlist is a whole vibe. Cozy, calm, reflective. Perfect for journaling, cleaning the house, or just slowing your mind down.

Tea: Sleepytime Tea - Mads and I ended most nights this week with hot tea while trying to fight off the coughs. Sleepytime tea definitely won the week.

Life Snapshot

Saturday was one of those simple, perfect days.

Ledger pulled out his toy mower while I mowed the backyard. Mads has flowers growing from seed and set up a bird feeder, so we spent time watching birds and checking on the little sprouts coming up.

We cleaned the pool, swept the patio, and just hung out outside.

Later we did a quick run to the gas station for snacks. I grabbed a Celsius (my current caffeine addiction) and got Ledger a water bottle with a suction lid.

He thought it was the coolest thing ever.

Sometimes the best days are just the ordinary ones.

One Last Thing

This month I’m focusing on Rhythm. The rhythms that make me stronger. The rhythms that make life easier. The rhythms that move me toward the person I want to be.

Because the goals we want don’t happen by accident.

They happen when the small daily actions start to flow naturally.

“For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things.”

1 Timothy 4:8

Fun P.S.

Spending time at another friends house with a kid while watching Ledger have the time of his life. He walked into their house unafraid or shy. He immediately asked if he could play with the legos and continued to give the baby all the toys. Literally so many toys. It was so fun and relaxing just to hang out with friends in a home with no true agenda, just to spend time with one another (and eat fajitas).

Hey you, “The amount of good things in your life depends on your ability to notice them.” This weekend I went to a St. Patrick’s Day run with Body Art Run Club to test whether my knee and ankle were finally ready after the marathon. I ran the mile. No knee pain. No ankle pain. But the highlight of the morning was meeting a guy named Gregg. We ended up talking about life, growth and building things that help people. At one point I mentioned the Cap10K in April, and he pulled out his phone and...

Hey you, I feel so grateful. This week felt like a transition week. Out of marathon mode. Out of stomach bug mode. Into healing, reflection and presence. One Thing to Think About This Week I’m 41. Ledger is almost 2. When he’s my age… I’ll be over 80. That thought doesn’t scare me. It motivates me. It makes doctor appointments feel important. It makes strength training matter. It makes healing instead of pushing through pain feel wise. I’ve been listening to Think and Grow Rich and one...

Hey you, You ever do something so big that it takes a few days for your brain to catch up? Yeah. Same. I ran a marathon on Sunday. Thirty thousand steps. Three thousand calories burned. Aggressive knee pain. Zero quitting. And somehow… it still doesn’t feel fully real. One Thing to Think About This Week It took me 41 years to believe I could run a marathon. Not because I wasn’t capable. But because I had built a ceiling over my own head. I thought marathons were for “real athletes.” For...
