The Pivot is The Plan

Hey you,

What a week? Am I right? What’s up with the weather in Austin? Rain, shine, rain, rain, rain…. but hey, my grass is thriving… and wet. The week didn’t go exactly as planned. But honestly? The pivots were the best parts.

Let’s get into it.

One Thing to Think About This Week

When your plan falls apart, the pivot is the plan.

My bike ride got cancelled this week. Weather. And for a split second I almost let that be the reason I stayed home. Instead, I kept the mindset of, “you have GOT to get out of the house” and hit a gym session at work, cleared out the recycling that had been stressing me out for weeks, and ended up at a new café locking in on this newsletter and the marathon video edit I’ve been putting off.

Nothing was wasted. It just looked different than I expected.

What plan did you abandon this week that could’ve been a pivot instead?

Celebrate Your Wins

  • Ledger’s birthday was Sunday the 3rd and we lit the candles, opened more gifts and played with all the toys. We let the mess stay a while. That was intentional and it was perfect (yes. yes it was…. shh)
  • Office is officially upgraded — $200 desk, $50 rug (Madison’s suggestion, third attempt, nailed it). It finally feels like a workspace I want to be in without judgement
  • Cancelled plans turned into a killer 60+ minute gym session. Phone on custom DND. No distractions. Just work.

Productivity Hack of the Week

Custom iPhone Focus Mode for dedicated work

I set up a dedicated fitness focus mode on my iPhone. Everything gets blocked except Madison. No Amazon notifications. No random texts. No badge counts pulling me out of the zone.

The setup: Settings → Focus → + Add Focus. Name it whatever you want. I use Fitness. You choose exactly which contacts and apps can reach you, and everything else waits. Takes 3 minutes. Changes everything.

Bonus: I also cleared the recycling out of my home gym this week. Clutter doesn’t just bother you consciously, it sits in the background eating your mental bandwidth. If there’s one thing in your space driving you low-key crazy, handle it first. You’ll feel it immediately.

What I’m Into This Week

Book: Rich Dad Poor Dad - been chewing on this one all week. The idea that rich people don’t work for money, they make money work for them. Assets add to your wallet. Liabilities take from it. Simple concept, heavy weight when you actually sit with it.

App/Tech: Miracle Morning - Been using this since December and it’s drastically changed my mornings. Having a dedicated app to focus on Silence, Affirmations, Visualization, Exercise (even if just ONE minute in the morning), Reading and Journaling. It can be quick or it can be 60 minutes, I choose based on my time limitations. GAME CHANGER! LITERALLY. I can’t stress this enough. You NEED a few moments alone in the morning, to have a better day.

Journal: Journaling on paper. Writing things down with an actual pen on actual paper. There is something that happens in your brain when you write by hand that a keyboard just cannot replicate. If you’ve never tried it, or haven’t in a while… give it a shot. Need a prompt? Start with: “I’m currently sitting at…” and just write. See where it takes you. You might surprise yourself. (This isn’t Dear Diary…. just trust me and try it okay? Seriously. Don’t sleep on this. Report back if you do it)

Life Snapshot

Personal Win: I’ve been posting on TikTok every single day, working toward 90 days straight. The content isn’t top tier right now and I know it. But the habit is forming, I’m getting comfortable yapping on camera, and I’ll keep making it better. Consistency before perfection. Every time.

Family Moments: Friday night was backyard hang time. I’ve officially got the bounce house setup down. From shed to play in under 5 minutes. LFG. We were all out there with our own waters, playing, laughing, just being together. The good life. The thing we prayed so hard for.

Real-Life Relatability: Wednesday I had a cold sore situation that took out my gym plans and wrecked my step count. I ended the day at 5,039 steps when my goal is 8k. I didn’t spiral. I just noted it and came back Thursday. That’s the whole move… notice, reset, go again. Hopped on the treadmill to lock in when needed

One Last Thing

I genuinely cannot remember the last time I was bored.

And I don't say that to flex... cuz that's not a flex. I say it because I think we forget that boredom is actually a choice. You have five minutes? Read a newsletter. Catch up on a podcast. Scroll guilt free, because you chose to. That's the difference.

Time is passing whether you're intentional about it or not. You might as well decide what you're doing with it.

What are you doing with yours?

Cancelled plans. Pivots. A week that looked nothing like you drew it up. God’s still in it. Keep going.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” — Proverbs 3:5-6

Fun P.S.

Ledger has this magnet game that he loves. It’s truly the only toy he plays with every day consistently. He says “house” when he wants you to help him build a house. We bought another set of magnets so we could go BIG, y’all. I know. Dramatic! Ledger doesn’t love when routines change, so he didn’t love the sight of the new magnets. I had to lowkey sneak them behind my back as we built the biggest “house” ever. He caught me one time and threw them back in their box. Until….. it clicked. LOOK HOW BIG THIS HOUSE IS?! The new magnets were now one set and all was well, especially for our big a$$ castle we assembled. Go us!

What I’m Building

90-day TikTok consistency challenge. The 90-day body transformation is in motion, tracking everything quietly for now, but it’s coming.

And the marathon video? It’s getting done. I’m locking in the edit this weekend. The longer you wait on content, the more you convince yourself it’s stale, but it’s not. People are still finding content I made two years ago. Someone out there needs the marathon story. Time to get it to them.

If you’re not subscribed on YouTube yet, what the flip are you waiting for? Go do that so you don’t miss it. 👇

Hey you… It’s Sunday. And before you map out the week ahead, I just want you to sit in this one for a second. Because this was a good week. Like… a really good week. Even when it didn’t feel like it. Let’s get into it. One Thing to Think About This Week Jim Rohn asked a question this week. What has you turned on right now? What has you turned off? He said without a strong enough why, your how just gets bigger. Heavier. More complicated. You think you want the million dollar home… but do you?...

Hey you, For two weeks I did everything right. Hit the gym six days. Protein every meal. Water like it was my job. And the scale gave me a grand total of… 1.3 pounds. If I’d only had the scale, I would’ve quietly assumed nothing was happening. Maybe even quit being so strict about it. Then I got the data. And the data told a completely different story. Let’s get into it. One Thing to Think About This Week The thing that’s been rattling around my brain: the proof is almost never where you’re...

Hey you, Okay, I don’t even know where to start this week. It was one of those weeks that looked normal on the outside… gym, work, kid bedtimes, all the things but on the inside, something shifted. I went to an event I almost talked myself out of going to and I came home with pages of notes and a few thoughts I haven’t been able to shake. Let’s get into it. One Thing to Think About This Week “Time is flying. You have to pay attention or you’ll miss it.” I keep saying it out loud hoping it’ll...
