This Is What Happens When You Just Go

Hey you,

For months, I kept seeing fun things online, like events, classes, experiences and my first instinct was always to find someone to go with. And every single time, it was either too far or the schedules just wouldn’t line up. So I wouldn’t go. And I kept not going. Over and over.

Meanwhile, my job mentioned a gym nearby. Nine minutes from me. Classes every day, 14 class formats so you never know what you’re walking into, but multiple class times each day with availability that actually fits my life.

I felt called to it. So I went. Alone.

And it broke me out of a framework I didn’t even realize I was stuck in. The one where nothing happens unless everything lines up perfectly first.

Let’s get into it.

One Thing to Think About This Week

This one came from a clip I saw on Youtube and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it.

“People see the world two ways. They either see what they want… or they see the thing that’s in the way of what they want.” What do feel like you typically do?

Sit with that. Because honestly, for a long time I had been staring at every obstacle. Conflicting schedules, the wrong time of day, not the right setup. Instead of just asking what CAN I do right now, with what I have?

The answer was right in front of me the whole time.

Celebrate Your Wins

  • Y’all. I hit 115 lbs on bench press for 5 reps this week. 1 rep max with plates (that’s 45lbs on each side). For the first time ever. The gym erupted. People were clapping, cheering, yelling. I got back in my car and had so much life in me. It felt so good that I made a decision right there. AM workouts are back. No more debating it.
  • Ledger and I have a system setup for the bounce house setup and takedown. We can get it up within 5 minutes and down within maybe 10, depending on how long it takes me to get him off from “deflating” it.
  • I hit my step goal every single day. Let’s go, baby!

Productivity Hack of the Week

Lock your workouts into the calendar on Sunday before the week starts.

Sunday evening, I open both my calendar and Madison’s, find the four slots that work and block them. Done. If something shifts, I adjust within 24 hours. But the default is they’re in.

This sounds simple but it’s not really about the calendar. It’s about making a decision in advance so you’re not negotiating with your tired self at 5am on Tuesday.

Bonus… having a team helps. The BFT 8-week challenge kicks off Monday and I’m not just accountable to myself. I’m accountable to a coach and a team. That external pressure? Sometimes that’s exactly what the internal commitment needs.

What I’m Into This Week

Audiobook: Joe Dispenza - New You New Life - If you’re in a season of trying to change and it keeps not sticking, this is the one. He breaks down why the old version of you keeps showing back up and exactly what to do about it.

App/Tech: Insight Timer - They have a fun Instagram account and a free app. The app has breathwork, meditation options for all types of moods. Def worth the try if you’re looking to expand your skill

Podcast: Jay Shetty and Tim Ferriss - The whole conversation is about how most of what keeps you stuck isn’t lack of discipline… it’s lack of alignment between what you say matters and how you actually live.

Sauna: Y’all this dry Sauna has been a GAME changer. Mads and I have been doing it at night and sleeping so much better. I’m soaking wet in sweat in just a few minutes but stay in for 20 minutes. This one also has red light therapy (Code Trina saves you money)

Life Snapshot

Personal Wins: Hit a bench PR with plates. Locked in AM workouts. Journaled every single day this week. Not perfectly, but consistently AND hit my 8,000 daily step goal every day! Next week we start 10,000 steps. Yikes.

Family Moments: We went to a restaurant with some friends with kids and it was that crazy fun chaos where half the crew is split up in various areas throughout the evening. A few at the playground, a few at a table, a few running around chasing toddlers or grabbing refills.. But it was perfect and there were still some great convos, even if no-one ever actually finished a story

Real-Life Relatability: Because I love productivity and tech so much, I find myself wanting to try all the apps and all the techniques to improve life, but it’s also extremely overwhelming. Starting tomorrow, i’m quitting a few apps to put all my focus this next 8 weeks on ONLY the ones for this season. Wish me luck!

One Last Thing

Joe Dispenza says the best way to predict the future is to create it. Your thoughts are not facts. Did you read that too fast? Let me say it slower…. YOUR. THOUGHTS. ARE. NOT. FACTS. You have about 60,000-80,000 thoughts a day and most of them aren’t actually factual. Focus on what you want and how you’re going to do one small thing to get there.

I’ve been sitting with that every morning. Not because I have it all figured out. But because I’m done letting old thoughts run the show.

You are not your patterns. You are not your past attempts. You are exactly where you need to be and Monday is always an option.

Fun P.S.

I went to Taran’s graduation party at a really fun putt putt place. By the time I got home it was already 6:30p so I grabbed L and soaked in as much time with him as possible. I immediately show into presence mode with my boy. We plugged in the bounce house and had our own party. We would hold hands, run and jump into the ball pit (very shallow, don’t recommend), then into the bounce house and down the slide. Over and over and over again. So much so, that we were late to bath time, but we still got to bed on time. He even went to bed with no push back. Guh…. my heart.

What I’m Building

The 8-week BFT challenge officially kicks off Monday. If you’ve been following the 90-day journey, this is where things get serious. 10k steps, locked-in nutrition, team competition and me trying not to embarrass myself on the leaderboard.

If you want a front-row seat to all of it, you’re already in the right place. Forward this to someone who needs a little Sunday Reset of their own and if someone forwarded this to you, welcome.

(If you want to join me on a daily step goal, reply and tell me what it is and let’s hold each other accountable).

See you next Sunday. 💛

Hey you… It’s Sunday. And before you map out the week ahead, I just want you to sit in this one for a second. Because this was a good week. Like… a really good week. Even when it didn’t feel like it. Let’s get into it. One Thing to Think About This Week Jim Rohn asked a question this week. What has you turned on right now? What has you turned off? He said without a strong enough why, your how just gets bigger. Heavier. More complicated. You think you want the million dollar home… but do you?...

Hey you, For two weeks I did everything right. Hit the gym six days. Protein every meal. Water like it was my job. And the scale gave me a grand total of… 1.3 pounds. If I’d only had the scale, I would’ve quietly assumed nothing was happening. Maybe even quit being so strict about it. Then I got the data. And the data told a completely different story. Let’s get into it. One Thing to Think About This Week The thing that’s been rattling around my brain: the proof is almost never where you’re...

Hey you, Okay, I don’t even know where to start this week. It was one of those weeks that looked normal on the outside… gym, work, kid bedtimes, all the things but on the inside, something shifted. I went to an event I almost talked myself out of going to and I came home with pages of notes and a few thoughts I haven’t been able to shake. Let’s get into it. One Thing to Think About This Week “Time is flying. You have to pay attention or you’ll miss it.” I keep saying it out loud hoping it’ll...
