Hey you, This week tested me in the “show up anyway” department. Sleep was garbage, Ledger ran a fever, and somehow I still made it to the gym six days. Let’s get into it. One Thing to Think About This WeekSomeone asked me this week, in one sentence, how to get into flow state. Off the cuff, this is what came out… make sure your space is clear of distraction, headphones in, box breathe (3 deep breaths, 4 seconds in through the nose, 4 second hold, 4 seconds out through the mouth) to mentally prepare to lock the f in, then play something like Quantum Focus. I didn’t overthink that answer. It just came out. And honestly, it surprised me how solid it was. Sometimes the thing you’ve been overcomplicating in your head is already in you. You just need someone to ask the right question to pull it out. Celebrate Your Wins
Productivity Hack of the WeekThe flow state formula from above, written out so you can actually use it…
That’s it. No overthinking required. Bonus fail: I’d planned to bump my step goal up to 12,000/day starting this week, but my feet had other plans. Pretty sure it’s plantar fasciitis (undiagnosed), so I pulled back instead of pushing through. Still averaged 9,290 steps for the week, which honestly isn’t bad. Sometimes the productivity win is knowing when to scale back instead of pushing through. What I’m Into This WeekFocus Music: Quantum Focus when I need to lock in. Big Bootie Mix on my morning drives to the gym, it’s a mashup of basically every genre and it gets me pumped up. Snack: Cookie Butter Protein Powder. Tastes like brownie batter and it’s so good on rice cakes. Music: Big Bootie Mix is a do mix of all genres mixed together. I listen to it every morning on my way to the gym. It gets me pumped up. Life SnapshotPersonal Wins: Showed up at the gym all week despite the sleep wreckage, and hit gold in Podium class (The class that wrecked me last time) Family Moments: A last-minute pool hang with Ledger. Pool time is so much easier now that he’s got a new style life vest, and he started swim lessons this week, so fingers crossed he’s swimming on his own by end of summer. Real-Life Relatability: I quit my 100-day “yap TikTok” experiment after 13 days. Views were low, and in my own head the content didn’t feel valuable. Then someone told me they actually enjoyed them. I let my own thoughts get in the way… again. Content is so easy and so hard at the same time, and mostly it’s all in your head. A battle I keep fighting. One Last ThingShowing up doesn’t require perfect conditions. Broken sleep, a sick toddler, sore feet, and a bald bush didn’t stop this week from still having real wins in it. (I totes balded the bush in the backyard with Ledger. Sorry Mads) You don’t need good sleep to have a good week. Fun P.S.Ledgers Daycare hosted a Father’s Day activity and told us to all show up in red. We arrive and the class next to us was wearing blue. It was a soccer match against the next classroom and boy did it absolutely not disappoint. Did Ledger score? Yes. Was I right there next to him cheering him on? Also yes! Total chaos and so much fun. What I’m BuildingI’m deep in week 9 of the 90-day fitness challenge right now, and this week was a real test of it. Steps were down, sleep was rough, and I still showed up six days. That’s the whole point… not perfect, just consistent. If you want to follow along (or start your own), I’m sharing the real, unfiltered version on my youtube. Working parent. Marathon finisher. Systems builder.I document what it actually looks like to close the gap between the life you keep picturing and the one you're living.
Hey you, Some weeks you do it all. This wasn’t one of those weeks. Daycare was closed, work stayed busy, and we packed up and drove to Oklahoma City to see family. Somewhere in there, content just had to wait. I used to feel guilty about weeks like this. This time I didn’t. I’m okay with that, and I think you should be too when your weeks look like this. One Thing to Think About This Week I watched a TEDx talk this week that was tooooo damn good. Dr. Kim Foster talked about why change doesn’t...
Hey you, I turned 42 this week, and somewhere between the candles and the math of “if I live to 100, that’s 42% done,” I had a whole moment. More on that below. One Thing to Think About This Week 42 years old. If I live to be 100, that’s 42% complete. Scary to think about… but honestly? Motivating too. It made me realize how easy it is to coast on “I’ll get to it eventually.” Mobility work. Gratefulness. Flossing your damn teeth. The tiny stuff that feels optional until you’re 80 wishing...
Hey you, This week I finally named the thing quietly sabotaging me since the marathon, and it wasn’t motivation. It was research. Turns out you can “plan” your way into being completely stuck. One Thing to Think About This Week I was talking to a friend about my YouTube rut and the recent realization that I’ve been taking in so much creator advice… all of it good, all of it well-intentioned, and it kept me stuck instead of setting me free. I gave him an example. Told him about a creator who...
