Two Weeks From the Start Line


Hey you,

January came in hot. Like “testing every system you thought was solid” kind of hot.

Flu. Ice storms. Daycare closures. Travel. Early mornings. A knee that decided to speak up at the worst possible time.

And yet… here we are.

Fourteen days out from my first marathon. Still standing. Still trying. Still adjusting.

This week was less about crushing goals and more about staying regulated, present and committed, even when the plan kept changing.

One Thing to Think About This Week

Progress doesn’t disappear just because life gets loud.

I tried to run 14 miles this weekend and stopped at 7 when my knee started acting up. Old me would’ve pushed through. Current me paused, researched, tested and listened.

It looks like an IT band issue, so now the focus is on:

  • targeted mobility
  • strength work
  • bike + rower for low-impact conditioning

The goal didn’t change.

The approach did.

Celebrate Your Wins

  • I stopped a long run early to protect my body
  • I completed my performance reviews as a manager, and they went really well
  • I found a way to lift at night by moving my weights inside (no cold garage excuses)
  • I stayed consistent on my Miracle Morning routine, even if it was only 3 minutes

Wins don’t have to be loud to count.

Productivity Hack of the Week

Three minutes is enough to change your nervous system.

This week proved that my morning routine doesn’t need to be perfect, it just needs to exist.

When Ledger woke up at 5am and the day felt rushed before it even started, I noticed how quickly I got edgy and overwhelmed. Three minutes of:

  • deep breaths
  • setting an intention
  • grounding myself

was enough to shift my tone for the entire day.

If you’re skipping routines because you “don’t have time”, this is your permission slip to go smaller.

What I’m Into This Week

  • Tony Robbins – Time to Rise Summit (3-Day Event) - I attended Tony Robbins’ 3-day virtual event and… wow. The energy, the mindset shifts, the reminders about personal responsibility and standards — it was powerful.

Bonus: He’s offering an extra day on Feb 2, so if you’ve been feeling stuck, uninspired, or just need a reset, this is worth checking out.

  • Full Body Mobility - This video is a game changer. Full-body mobility that actually connects the dots. hips, glutes, ankles, core, all of it.

Real talk: if I had stayed consistent with mobility + strength, I probably wouldn’t be dealing with knee issues right now. Learn from me. Move your body. It’s all connected.

  • Sleep Playlist (My Go-To Every Night) - I built this sleep playlist to help shut off the brain and actually fall asleep. The first video is guided and walks you through relaxing individual body parts instead of replaying your to-do list.

If that one ends and you’re still awake, there are longer follow-ups that last all night.Pro tip: Add this to a daily reminder. Headphones encouraged.

Life Snapshot

  • Ledger has been up at 5am… a lot. Parenting while not getting that morning alone time is no joke.
  • Madison flew to San Diego to be with her mom while Ledger and I found new places to hang inside
  • Nutrition, training, work, parenting, all competing for attention at once.
  • I picked up a screw in my tire because of course I did. January said, “One more thing.”

And still, I handled it. Not perfectly. But kind of calmly?

One Last Thing

This month didn’t break me, but it absolutely tested my systems.

What saved me wasn’t motivation, cuz duh. That doesn’t save anyone.

It was pause → assess → adjust.

I can’t always control sleep. Or illness. Or timing.

But I can control how I respond.

And right now, the response is:

Stay steady. Keep going. Finish the thing.

Somewhere between fixing a tire, managing knee rehab and surviving another early morning… I realized something:

This season of life requires more support, not more grit.

So shoutout to Katie for offering to watch Ledger so I can get my long run in this weekend. That kind of support matters more than people realize… and I don’t take it lightly.

You just need an honest one.

Breathe. Adjust. Keep moving.
